Mixing & Mastering
The critical post-production phase where individual recorded tracks are harmonized and polished to achieve commercial-grade loudness and sonic fidelity. In our Yokohama studio, we unlock the full potential of your composition through precise frequency management and dynamic control.
Mixing is far more than simply adjusting volume levels. It is the architectural process of organizing the frequency spectrum, ensuring that vocals remain prominent without sacrificing the power of the ensemble. At Berungrid, we leverage the rich harmonic content captured by our tube microphones and near-field monitors to create a transparent separation that meets modern listening standards.
The subsequent mastering stage involves final EQ processing, compression, and limiting applied to the stereo mix. This ensures your track is optimized for various delivery platforms—from streaming services to physical media—maintaining a consistent balance and professional impact regardless of the playback device used by the listener.
Production Process
Asset Reception & Analysis
We analyze your provided multitrack data, studying the song structure, dynamics, and artistic direction to align the engineering goals with your vision.
Mixing Phase
Applying levels, panning, EQ, and compression to each track. We build the sonic foundation and establish a balanced spatial arrangement for all elements.
Mastering Treatment
We refine the overall tone and optimize loudness. We ensure commercial-grade LUFS values while preserving the essential dynamics of the performance.
Review & Refinement
We submit the first draft for your review. Based on your feedback, we perform precise adjustments until the sound is perfected for final delivery.
Who This Service Is For
This service is designed for artists, producers, and songwriters who have completed their recording sessions—whether in-house or at an external studio—and now require a professional "finished product." It is particularly effective for those facing the following technical challenges:
- Individual tracks sound high-quality, but the combined mix feels muddy or cluttered.
- Vocals are getting lost in the arrangement or lack a professional "front-and-center" presence.
- The track sounds significantly quieter or thinner when compared to other songs on Spotify or Apple Music.
- Low-end frequencies are clashing, causing the kick drum and bass to lose definition.
Our Engineering Approach
The Berungrid mixing engineers adapt their workflow to the specific genre of the music. For jazz or acoustic projects, we prioritize natural ambiance and dynamic range with a transparent touch. For pop, electronic, or rock music, we focus on a tight rhythm section and emphasized high-end clarity to ensure the track cuts through the mix.
Our control room's precise acoustic treatment allows for a flat monitoring environment. This removes the guesswork from the process, preventing over-compensation in specific frequency bands and ensuring that the final master translates accurately across all speaker systems, from studio monitors to smartphone speakers.
Client Preparation Requirements
To ensure a seamless workflow, please prepare your data in the following formats. For a detailed technical breakdown, please visit our File Formats and Delivery Guide.
- Multitrack Data: Individual WAV files for each instrument (24-bit / 44.1kHz or higher recommended).
- Reference Tracks: 1–2 existing professional songs that represent the sonic character you aim to achieve.
- Composition Notes: A brief document highlighting specific parts to emphasize or particular concerns you have.
- Rough Mix: A preliminary mix file that shows your intended balance and arrangement.
Deliverables and Formats
Upon completion, you will receive a comprehensive delivery package containing high-resolution, uncompressed files:
- Final Master: WAV format (24-bit / 44.1kHz or 48kHz).
- Streaming MP3: High-bitrate 320kbps file for quick distribution.
- Instrumental Version: A backing track without lead vocals (upon request).
- Stem Files: Grouped files (e.g., Drums, Bass, Vocals) for future remixing or live use (available upon consultation).

Frequently Asked Questions
How many revisions are included in the price?
We provide up to 3 rounds of revisions after the first draft is submitted. Please note that significant changes to the song structure or replacing recorded files may incur additional charges. For more details, please refer to our Terms and Conditions.
Can you work with files recorded at home?
Yes, we can. However, if the recordings contain excessive noise or digital clipping, the ability to fix these issues during mixing is limited. We strongly recommend providing the cleanest possible raw data.
Is it possible to request mastering only?
Yes. Please provide a completed stereo mix file. We request that you leave sufficient headroom (peak levels between -3dB and -6dB) to allow for optimal mastering processing.
How long do you store my session data?
Berungrid archives session data for a maximum of 12 months. After this period, data is permanently deleted. We advise all clients to maintain their own secure backups after final delivery.
